A concessionary path towards the summit of Ecton Hill pictured here on a windy afternoon in mid October. The hill is dotted with numerous fenced-off mine shafts which are currently being excavated and are the legacy of the area's copper mining past. The Manifold Light Railway visitor centre at nearby Hulme End contains excellent information about the copper mines which at one time satisfied up to one half of the world's demand.
