Lea Cross Proprietary Church of St. Anne was built at the expense of Rector S.J. Hawkes as a memorial to his mother. The land was owned and given by Col. Meredith-Warter. It was the subject of a long-running dispute: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/shropshire/4343348.stm as a result of which it is no longer used for worship. It is now owned by a local charitable trust: http://www.shropshirestar.com/2007/03/09/row-church-may-be-sold/
