Looking north-east from the south-west end, near Featherbank Lane. The trees on Stanhope Drive were planted as a memorial to the people of Horsforth who were killed in the Great War, one for each man and 1 woman. Originally each tree had a small metal plaque with the name, but very few remain - I think I have seen 2 in recent years. (By 2020 none were visible, I believe several are in Horsforth Museum, and maybe some of the householders are keeping them safe).
