This photograph is taken from the side of the Albyn bing of the former Broxburn oil shale works. The line of low bushes along the edge of the industrial estate was the North British Railway branch line that served the works. The Union Canal is invisible in the trees at the foot of the bing. In the far distance the Pentland Hills are on the right and Arthur's Seat at Edinburgh is towards the left.
