The cross roads at the heart of Broomhill. Looking towards Nile St with Whitham Road on the left and Fulwood Road to the right. On-a-Roll, to the right, was Spooner's butcher's shop years ago and my mother worked there. She and my father rented a house from him, which was up Bolehill Lane in Crookes. I was standing outside that shop one day and saw my father driving a tram car down Crookes road into Whitham Road. The trolley came off the wires and had to be put back on. I think he was too embarrassed to mention it later.
