Situated on the corner of Preston Road and East Loan in Prestonpans, The cross over the years has become the town's symbol. Though some say 16th century, I believe the cross was built in the years after Prestonpans was made a Burgh of Barony and allowed to hold annual fairs. Prestonpans new status as a Burgh came in 1606 and Packmen's fairs were held annually thereafter. The cross is the oldest of its kind in Scotland, still standing on the same spot.
