Neighbourhoods are compared only within the same Police Force.
Different forces have different budgets and priorities and even within the same force area caution should be excercised when comparing different neighbourhoods as again, different priorities and resources are deployed to different types of area such as inner city and rural.
Where neighbourhoods can be compared is against themselves, month by month to determine if crime is increasing or decreasing and if so, which types of crime are being reported.
Similar adjoining neighbourhoods can be compared if they are of a similar make-up.
Hampshire Constabulary is one of the biggest forces in the country, whose purpose is to deliver SAFER communities. The parishes of Hedge End, West End and Botley make up the Hedge End North area. In recent years all three parishes have come together along with local community groups, including Kings Community Church, to provide a solid range of diversionary activities for young people to steer them away from anti-social behaviour. This has proved to be a great success and you related ASB has reduced as a result.
The area has many primary schools which feed into the largest secondary school in Hampshire, Wildern School. We have good relationships with all of our schools and run a Junior PCSO programme in which young people learn how to be responsible members of the public and how they can become a real PCSO!
