PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
THE GAH GROUP OF CONSULTANTS AND THE CONDUCT OF THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR NATIONAL HERITAGE (26 January 1993)
Motion Details
That this House is deeply concerned to note that on the date upon which the Goodhall, Alexander, and O'Hare (GAH) group of consultants were commissioned by the Secretary of State for National Heritage to compile a report on the effects of the introduction of the national lottery, the company had been in existence for a mere 34 working days; believes that it was therefore totally misleading for the Secretary of State for National Heritage to inform the honourable Member for Cunninghame North in a Parliamentary Answer on 23rd November 1992, Official Report, column 493, that the reason for appointing Goodhall, Alexander, and O'Hare was that the group was the best qualified in terms of experience, expertise, and cost; further believes that the publication of the GAH Group report is therefore imperative if the House is to be confident of the quality of the report, paid for out of public funds; and calls on the Secretary of State to apologise to the honourable Member for Cunninghame North and the House, and arrange for the publication of the GAH report as a matter of urgency.
