PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
CONDUCT OF THE LIQUIDATION OF BCCI (No3) (16 February 1993)
Motion Details
That this House deplores the conduct of BCCI receivers, Touche Ross, in showing no regard for the future of company customers of BCCI to the extent of dishonouring agreements and putting jobs at risk; cites, as an example, the appalling treatment of Mone Bros. a company employing 90 workers in Morley, Leeds, who having paid the full ú250, 000 agreed price for essential equiment are told that this is to be confiscated by Touche Ross who will not honour the full agreement; believes that the deliberate milking of this smaller company for the benefit of corporate clients is a potent reason for the dismissal of Touche Ross; and calls upon the President of the Board of Trade who currently enjoys powers in this receivership, to act to ensure Mone Bros. keep the goods for which they have paid the full and agreed price save one pound only.
