PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
PRESCRIPTION CHARGES (10 February 1993)
Motion Details
That this House condemns any increase in prescription charges; believes that any further increase will be prohibitive to many on low incomes who will not be able to afford the drugs they need and amounts to a tax on the sick; notes that when this Government came to power prescriptions cost 20 pence and have been increased 15 times and are now 2,000 per cent. higher; and calls on the Government to reduce the charges made for prescriptions and to extend the qualification criteria for exemption from charge.
