PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
EQUALITY OF HEALTH OPPORTUNITY FOR PATIENTS (28 January 1993)
Motion Details
That this House, recognising that the principle of equal access to health care is fundamental to that National Health Service, believes that there is incontrovertible evidence that in many areas access to hospital treatment is dependent on registration with a fundholding practice; further recognises that many non-fundholding general practitioners are denied essential practice-funding by the family health authorities; and calls upon the Secretary of State for Health to ensure equal funding per patient across the National Health Service and a flexibility in purchasing plans that ensures year round hospital access on the basis of patient need.
