PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
IMPORTED FRENCH ELECTRICITY (10 March 1993)
Motion Details
That this House notes with grave concern that British taxpayers are subsidising the dumping of French nuclear-generated electricity under a protocol signed in 1981; and calls on the President of the Board of Trade to unravel the deal and keep open British pits by substituting an arrangement whereby French electricity ceases to be non-leviable and the EDF's ability to supply base load electricity from 1993 is made conditional on the United Kingdom generators having access to the French market and through the French transmission network to other countries.
