PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
HON. MEMBERS AND NORTHERN CYPRUS (20 June 1993)
Motion Details
That this House is deeply concerned about recent revelations that have emerged which show the involvement of a significant number of honourable Members travelling on expenses-paid trips to the illegally occupied areas of Cyprus; notes that current British Government foreign policy, in line with that of the Commonwealth countries, the United Nations and all its member states, other than Turkey, is not either to recognise nor give succour to the regime currently controlling the illegally occupied parts of the island; further is shocked to learn that, contrary to the House's rules, most of these gifts acquired by honourable Members have not yet been entered into the Register of Members' Interests; and calls upon the Leader of the House to investigate this matter as quickly as possible together with other rumours of gifts to honourable Members from this source.
