PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
ARTS COUNCIL CUTS AND REGIONAL THEATRES (20 July 1993)
Motion Details
That this House views with great concern the threat to the future of regional theatres caused by the Arts Council's proposals to withdraw subsidy; reaffirms its belief that regional theatres are central and vital both to the cultural and social life of the communities they serve, and to the infrastructure of British theatre as a whole; and calls on the Government to withdraw its ú5 million cut, and on the Arts Council to confirm its commitment to funding all existing regional theatres at least at present levels.
