HONOURABLE MEMBERS AND LLOYD'S (8 July 1993)

That this House, noting that the 44 honourable and Right honourable Members for Torbay, Wanstead and Woodford, North West Leicestershire, North Dorset, Elmet, North West Norfolk, Holland with Boston, Upminster, Finchley, City of London and Westminster South, Lincoln, Davyhulme, Hertsmere, Romsey and Waterside, Erith and Crayford, Westbury, Sutton Coldfield, Eddisbury, Epsom and Ewell, Old Bexley and Sidcup, Stratford upon Avon, North Norfolk, Wirral West, Westmoreland and Lonsdale, Lancaster, Stroud, Galloway and Upper Nithsdale, Fareham, Mid Bedfordshire, West Gloucestershire, Arundel, North Wiltshire, Amber Valley, Rugby and Kenilworth, Mid Sussex, Colne Valley, Aldridge-Brownhills, South Hams, Bridlington, Bosworth, Reading East, Gosport, Westminster North and Weston super Mare each have a personal pecuniary interest as Lloyd's Names listed in the Members' Interests Register in the new tax privileges granted to the Lloyd's Insurance Market under the Finance Bill 1993 which will benefit them considerably, calls upon them not to vote at Report Stage on amendments or New Clauses affecting Lloyd's and to abstain on Third Reading; and further calls on all honourable Members to delete from the Bill all tax changes for Lloyd's since it still remains a unique anachronism and a law unto itself by refusing statutory regulation.
