PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
REDUNDANCIES AT PRUDENTIAL ASSURANCE COMPANY LIMITED (6 July 1993)

That this House expresses grave concern regarding recent developments within the Prudential Assurance Company Ltd. and in particular the adverse impact these changes will have on staff and policy holders; and calls on Prudential management to suspend plans to make over 2,000 employees redundant and to give further consideration to the alternative strategy formulated by the National Union of Insurance Workers which would provide greater stability and protection for the long-term interest of the policyholders, the staff and the company.
