PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
YORKSHIRE WATER COSTS (27 June 1993)
Motion Details
That this House wholeheartedly endorses the criticism of Yorkshire Water plc by the regional OFWAT water Customer Services Committee for their so-called 'option' that its customers must pay a minimum of inflation plus 6.5 per cent. price increase just to maintain 'today's standards'; condemns the implied threat to the Government and the water regulator OFWAT that they will supply sub-standard water if the Regulator, Ian Byatt, in consultation with Ministers, approves a price increase close to that of inflation; and demands that Yorkshire Water look for other sources than the consumer's pocket to run their business efficiently.
