PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
Toxic Waste (8 February 1990)

Motion Details

That this House calls upon the honourable Member for Wentworth to bring one of the 2700 drums of copper waste, presently held in his constituency, to London and put it in a suitable place in the Palace of Westminster,in order to remind honourable Members that this material, which entered Britain a supposedly uncontaminated material and which was found to contain other and harmful substances, has now been here for many months, during which time Her Majesty's Government has failed to ensure its removal and neglected to introduce the necessary improvement in national regulations, in order to prevent the recurrence of this experience and to serve as a reminder that this country and any other state which considers itself civilised should ratify and implement the Basle Convention.
