Sandwick: former Jamieson?s store
This was the village store, petrol station, post office et cetera, until its closure probably a decade or more ago - see http://flic.kr/p/7mt6Bq for an operational view. The remains of the signboard are still in place. The village store and post office are now housed within the bakery in Stove, quarter of a mile or so to the southwest. However, the postbox has not been moved and remains operational in its exact original spot (see Image]) for a close-up).

Sandwick
Sandwick takes its name from the Old Norse: Sandvik meaning "Sandy Bay". Located 13 miles south of Lerwick in the South Mainland, It comprises a number of distinct settlements in very close proximity to each other, each remaining distinct through being separated by agricultural land. These settlements within Sandwick include Old Sandwick (often just called "Sandwick" or "San'ick"), Lebitton, Broonies' Taing, Stove, Swinister and Hoswick - the latter of which is almost a village in its own right and is often considered distinct from Sandwick.
