Signal box and Station House, Station Road, Burton Agnes
Both Grade II Listed, the ground level signal box is an example of an 1875 S1b box for North Eastern Railway that has outlived its larger replacement on the opposite side of the line. In 2012 four survived as operational boxes and a further six in other uses. At 06:42 on 17 September 1947, an army lorry conveying German Prisoners of war crashed through the level crossing gates and collided with the 05:55 passenger train from Hull to Bridlington killing ten POWs and two British NCOs. Roger Moreton who has restored the box had a remembrance plaque to the dead unveiled on the signal box in December 2013 mainly thanks to the efforts of Richard Jones. The station was opened on 6 October 1846 by the York and North Midland Railway and the station house is dated as 1845 by George Townsend Andrews (1804–1855). The station was closed to goods 2nd November 1964 and passengers on 5 January 1970.

Burton Agnes Station
This photograph of the former railway station on Station Road is very similar to the one submitted by Stephen Horncastle. Another photograph of this scene, submitted by Paul Glazzard, shows a BR(NE) clock on the house wall beyond the signal box. This is a "dummy clock" according to a sign close by, presumably to deter thieves.
