This large lock on the River Severn is very neat and well cared for. The old lock house on the far bank is now holiday accommodation.

Diglis locks on the River Severn
Viewed from the new pedestrian and cyclist bridge.
The river Severn flows over a weir on the left of the island to keep the Severn navigable through Worcester City.
The locks for boat traffic are different sizes: the narrower right-hand lock will be much quicker and easier to operate and will cater for most boats.
Worcester Cathedral stands proud in the distance on the right whilst the spire known as the Glover's Needle competes for height to its left.

Diglis Island, Worcester
The island is between the river locks and Diglis Weir and is private with access via the Canal and river Trust. The workshops were used o make lock gates but that ceased a good while back. The Scotch derrick in the background is about to be cosmetically restored.
