C?te Brasserie coming soon
The distinctive black and white restaurant at the junction of Westgate and Ashley Road was called Est-Est-Est for many years, then it was the Hale Grill for about 10 years until September 2016, when it suddenly closed. It is due to re-open as the Côte Brasserie in January 2017.

Ware's Coffee House, Hale
For decades, Ware's Creamery was an institution in Hale Village, occupying the corner of Westgate and Ashley Road. It was especially beloved of school children, in the summer, because there used to be a window, at the side, on Westgate, where you could buy soft drinks and freshly-made ice cream. It closed and was replaced by a succession of restaurants. (Two things that Hale has in abundance are restaurants and estate agents.)
