The Japanese garden was opened in 1991 to celebrate the Japanese Festival and commemorate the centenary of Britain's friendship with Japan. The war is discreetly ignored.

Rainwater storage ditch, Holland Park
The park slopes down to Abbotsbury Road which is just beyond this strip of woodland. Most rainwater in the park is trapped higher up to soak into the ground. This deep ditch catches any overflow; after a wet February there is water in it in the photo. Photo Image shows this scene in summer.
