Crossroads in Summercourt
In the distance can be seen one of the rides at the annual Summercourt Fair. Summercourt Fair is a Charter fair held annually during the last week of September each year. It is one of the largest fairs in Cornwall and is over 800 years old. The notice on the traffic lights announces a road closure on the next day, Monday 26 September, when the fair will take over the road. Nowadays that is just a local inconvenience. Before the current A30 was constructed to the north of the village this main arterial road through Cornwall used to run through the village but the road's importance did not prevent its annual closure for the fair.

Summercourt
The village of Summercourt grew up around a road junction on the A30 and used to be an important place for the trading of livestock. The new A30 road now runs just to the north of the village. The bus on the right is on the route between Newquay and Truro providing a half hourly service in each direction from here.
