Veryan: Melinsey or Higher Mill
The overshot waterwheel was cast by Harris & Polmear of the City Foundry, Truro, in 1882. It has been restored to working order and by 2000 the watermill was open daily from April to October, with a craft centre and agricultural museum and offering light lunches and teas

Melinsey Watermill
Although the wheel still turns this is more of a tea room than watermill. The machinery is intact with an overshot wheel and a single set of underdrift stones.

Melinsey Mill - gear room
This is a rather cluttered area and the gearing is obscured by the heavy wooden hurst framing. The water wheel drives via spur gearing to a layshaft that in turn drives the stone nut but without trespassing (I didn't) you can't appreciate all the mechanism.
