Ladock - Old broken guidepost
This guidepost to the east of the village of Ladock only retains one of its three original arms, the one that says New Mills 1 Blue Anchor 5 Quite why "Blue Anchor" is mentioned is a little difficult to understand. All there is in that hamlet at SW911579 is Image] - there are much more significant places that could have been alluded to. I can only think that it dates back to the coaching days when that pub was a place where horses could be exchanged for the onward journey.

Ladock - Church of St Ladoca - Stained glass with swallows
There are two attractive modern (C20th) stained glass windows in the south wall of the south aisle of Image This is the more eastward of the two. Set into a Perpendicular (C15th) stone window this glass depicts rolling countryside with swallows (or perhaps martins) flying above fields, a river and flowers. A sheepdog can be seen in one of the fields in the righthand pane. The wording above the lower two swallows says: "I thank thee God that I have lived in this great world and known its many joys" The other modern window is Image]
