Newtown Road, Ashford
The building nearest to the camera with the clock tower is derelict. Just beyond the sign on the pavement is the entrance to the former railway works. The building beyond is occupied by the offices of Network Rail.

Ashford : Newtown Road Railway Bridge
View of underside of railway bridges across Newtown Road. The bridge closest to the photographer provided access to Ashford railway works; the bridges further away are on the Ashford-Hastings railway line. Low clearance of 9ft 9ins caused problems for traffic, and all bridges were demolished in 2008 to be replaced by a new bridge serving the Ashford-Hastings line.

The Clock Tower, Newtown, Ashford
This tower marks the entrance to Ashford's railway works on Newtown Road. The works are very much scaled back since their industrial peak when Newtown or Alfred's Town was built to house all the workers.
