Brightling Gypsum Mine
The covered conveyor belt takes gypsum to the site of the former mine at Mountfield, where the processing plant is. It was operating, but is very quiet.

Brightling Mine
The mine which extracts gypsum was opened in 1963 as the older Mountfield Mine was becoming depleted. Part of the agreement for opening in the remote rural area was that there should be no traffic and thus an initial aerial ropeway was constructed that was later replaced by the current conveyor. All output is sent to Rugby to be used in cement. The mine is currently in the process of being expanded.
