Ruishton old school
The parochial school was founded in 1861 and had a single teacher on site for most of its formative years. Although efficient at first, by the turn of the 1900s there were increasing concerns expressed by the school authorities. Following some further problems the school room was shut in 1914; a new primary school was built in the south of the village in 1975. Today the property is known as The Bellhouse (the bell can be seen at the end of the roof) and is residential.
