Sutton Bridge Junction Signal Box
Looking north towards Shrewsbury Station, viewed from a road bridge (now pedestrianised). The crossover in front of the box allows access to the single line Cambrian route. The line on the far left is a head-shunt allowing access into the Coleham Permanent Way depot. The other side of the box on the right is the site of Coleham (Shrewsbury) steam locomotive depot which closed to steam in 1967. Image

Sutton Bridge Junction Signal Box
Sutton Bridge is a 'sub' 'box of Severn Junction signal box. It controls the routes from Aberystwyth and the Marches Line at Sutton Bridge Junction south of Shrewsbury Station. I'm unable to say exactly how responsibility for the route into Shrewsbury station is divided between this 'box and its parent. To the right is the road bridge over the now abandoned route to Bridgnorth.

Entrance to Network Rail's Coleham depot
The Midland Railway (later joint London Midland & Great Western) once had a large complex of traction depot, goods sheds and carriage and wagon works covering some 9 hectares / 22 acres south of Shrewsbury station. These remaining tracks are now used by Network Rail as a maintenance depot.
