Commissioned by: erected by public subscription
Architect: C G Cowlishaw

There are two steps up to the monument. The figure of a soldier dressed in World War I uniform appears on the front face of the square-sectioned memorial. He stands within a shallow niche, holding his gun end downwards. His head is bare, and his hat lies next to his right foot. The Burslem coat of arms appears on the rear face of the monument, above the inscription. Both the right and left sides of the monument are decorated with a Latin cross and, below that, a wreath festooned with drapes.
The memorial was unveiled by the Earl of Dartmouth, 11 November 1921
