Public realm, Leek
Leek town centre. Looking towards the eastern end of Derby Street, from the end of Ashbourne Road. The roundabout at this junction was removed, amid some controversy, during 2012; the new arrangement was complete by the end of 2012. This photo shows the new "public realm" where the roundabout was situated.

Nat West Bank
This lovely, Grade II Listed ( http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-461635-national-westminster-bank-leek ), building was originally built in 1882 to a design by local architect William Larner Sugden for the Manchester and Liverpool District Banking Company. This company became the District Bank and eventually, through various mergers and take-overs, the National Westminster- the former name for Nat West. The Grade II Listed ( http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-461635-national-westminster-bank-leek ) building was originally built in 1882 for the Manchester and Liverpool District Banking Company who eventually became the Nat West. Nat West Bank- cartouche
This lovely carving above the main entrance to the bank (Image) depicts the name of the banking company for whom this building was erected in 1882. The Manchester and Liverpool District Banking Company were, eventually, to become the Nat West Bank, who now occupy it. See also Image

Nat West Bank- front detail
Showing the lovely plasterwork on the front of the Image building on Derby Street. Erected in 1882 to plans drawn up by local architect William Larner Sugden, this Grade II Listed building was originally owned by the Manchester and Liverpool District Banking Company who were in business from 1829 to 1970 when it merged with the National Westminster Bank.
