View north from the southern end of the Swindon and Cricklade Railway near Haydon Wick
For now this is as far south as the line goes. It is hoped that, one day, the line will run to Mouldon Hill country park a few hundred metres behind the viewpoint. This and other pictures of mine from today were taken at a Steam and Vintage rally at the heritage railway.

View south from the southern end of the Swindon and Cricklade Railway near Haydon Wick
The line stops here - for now. It is hoped that the line will carry on for a few hundred metres more to Mouldon Hill country park at some time in the not too distant future. At left behind the hedge is the Clifford Meadow Site of Special Scientific Interest http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/323056 Just about visible are houses that were under construction the last time I photographed hereabouts http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/323075 This and other pictures of mine from today were taken at a Steam and Vintage rally at the heritage railway.

Southwold Close, Oakhurst, Swindon
Some of the houses in Southwold Close have the advantage of looking out over Clifford Meadow (also known as Haydon Meadow), a Site of Special Scientific Interest which has never been ploughed or artificially fertilised. Wildlife preserved on the meadow include Pipistrelle bats and the Green-winged orchid. At the end of the track which runs parallel with this pathway is the track of the former Midland & South Western Junction Railway, part of which north of this point has been restored by Swindon & Cricklade Railway, a heritage railway group.
