Territorial Army Centre, Church Place, Swindon
This relatively modern building is situated on the site of a drill hall built in 1871. The original drill hall had an area of 8000 square feet (743 square metres). The 1871 building was itself a replacement facility for an even earlier one Image built in 1861 and then converted ten years later into a hospital.

Great Western Railway notice at the entrance to a Swindon park
At the NW entrance to the park, from Church Place. The Great Western Railway (GWR) ceased to exist on January 1st 1948 when it became part of the nationalised British Railways. Nearly 70 years later many reminders of the GWR remain in this part of Swindon. The company's former railway works buildings and Railway Village houses are nearby.
