Hither Green Cemetery
Founded in 1873, Hither Green Cemetery is now home to one of the largest flocks of ring-necked parakeets in London. It also sadly contains the mass grave of 33 victims of the bombing of Sandhurst Road School in 1943. A total of 38 children and six members of staff were killed in the attack on this Catford school. The long distance path leads from Whitefoot Terrace (within the Downham housing estate) towards Reigate Road and then onwards to Grove Park. The Capital Ring (another footpath) also uses this route.
