Sheffield, S3 - Alma Street
A view along Alma Street towards Corporation Street (A61). The Kelham Tavern, as The Fat Cat pub was originally known, was built in 1855. Its name was changed to The Alma Hotel – in commemoration of the Battle of the Alma, a Crimean War battle – in 1859. The Wm. Stones Brewery purchased it in 1912 but at some point after that it seems to have become a hotel. In 1981 it was purchased and launched as The Fat Cat to provide an alternative to the pubs owned by the big breweries who dominated the city. The building has been “listed” since 2000. The two-storey building beyond the lamp post, once the parent company’s micro-brewery, now houses the company’s offices and gift shop. Kelham Island Industrial Museum, behind the pub, can be accessed through the pub’s car park gates.

Kelham Island - Globe Steel Works
I am not sure what the relationship is between this "Globe Steel Works" on Alma Street and the "Globe Works" a quarter of a mile away at the western end of Green Lane (see Image).
