Hallam Tower Hotel from Chesterwood Drive, Broomhill, Sheffield
This view of the former hotel gives an indication as to why it was controversial when it was built ... it certainly dominates these houses ... can you imagine it all lit up? Hallam Tower Hotel, Manchester Road, Broomhill, Sheffield
This view is from the Top Road ... as I recall it, this was the main entrance but it all looks a bit narrow to me now! The building extension in the centre was the Main Reception area, the road to the right leads to a car park, the road to the left leads down to the bottom of the site and Fulwood Road. See also ... Methodist Church, Fulwood Road, Broomhill
I took this shot of the front entrance about 2½ years earlier than my previous photographs and didn't see the need to photograph it again. For the main photograph and description see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/987789

Methodist Church, Fulwood Road, Broomhill
This view of the church shows the front entrance and the Oxfam shop next door, which in the 40s and 50’s used to be called Prices, and it sold ‘posh’ frocks and other wearing apparel. This used to be a very busy junction with traffic travelling from five directions that could navigate anywhere, but that's mostly been stopped and is now controlled with traffic lights. It is also the A57 to Manchester, where I'm standing. For another view and a more detailed description http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/987789

The former Hallam Towers hotel
Once the jewel in South Yorkshire’s hospitality crown, the Hallam Tower Hotel has stood derelict since 2004, an abandoned modernist icon. Situated in City’s affluent western suburbs, the unmistakable form of the Hallam Tower has dominated the skyline since 1965. Once crowned by a dazzling neon sign, years of emptiness and neglect have rendered the abandoned hotel a decaying hulk, its once-elegant interior practically destroyed by vandals and water damage.
