Smelly Alley
Union Street, a narrow pedestrian street between Friar Street and Broad Street, is ubiquitously known in Reading as "Smelly Alley" because of all the fish and meat shops along here. Many are still there, just counters fronting the street, but these days there is a greater variety of shops. On the Saturday evening before Christmas all the stalls are closed.

Graffiti on the windows
My son noticed the graffiti on the windows of this building on Friar Street Reading, we tried to figure how it was done but it looks like it is on the inside.

Friar Street
Friar Street where Woolies used to come out though as can be seen has been redeveloped. There used to be a couple of old pubs down here that have now gone, plus my favourite book shop the Friar Street book shop.

Friars Walk
This used to be a small shopping mall (building with flag on) on Friar Street which went through to Station Hill; it was built after the Broad Street mall but closed a few years ago. It is now due to be redeveloped.
