Kirkholt - Rugby League Pitch
This pitch was used by the long defunct Spotland Rangers Amateur Rugby League Club for many years and formed part of Balderstone Park. Quite why a team called "Spotland" played on Kirkholt is another matter. The changing rooms can be seen at the back of the picture. The pitch was briefly used by Balderstone Warriors Amateur Rugby League Club for one season (2007-08?) until they folded.

Kirkholt: Small green off Balderstone Road
The Kirkholt estate should not be dismissed as 'just one of those big council estates'. It is, in fact, a very pleasant place with plenty of open spaces and mature trees.

Balderstone Hall, Rochdale, Lancashire
This large house, which used to stand in Balderstone Park, was demolished sometime in the 1960s, after serving for some time as a branch library.
