Woodlands House building site, Malpas, Newport
Viewed in early January 2016. The South Wales Argus reported in the Spring of 2014 that plans for the partial demolition of Grade II listed 19th century Woodlands House, followed by conversion to flats, with houses being built in its grounds, had been given the go-ahead again.
Planning councillors had previously approved plans for the partial demolition of Woodlands House in April 2012. But the council held off issuing permission after a threat of judicial review from campaigning group Save Britain’s Heritage. Planning permission for the project was approved again at Newport council’s planning committee meeting in March 2014, after changes were made to the scheme.
