Sunny Packington Street
The residential side of the street faces south-west. I lived here for a few weeks one autumn in my student days, and remember the strong late-afternoon sunlight. At such times there'd be a spectacular view over the City from the upper floors. The glazed towers would seem to light up - though in those days there were just a few of them, and they were modest in scale.

This large Grade II listed mural is on Packington Street. It is 34 ft (10.4m) by 14 ft (4.3m) and on the outward side of the wall of the former gymnasium to the school (previously Tudor School, then Islington Green School) before the Academy. It is a semi-abstract mosaic with tile, broken china, glass and tesserae on a concrete backing. See http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-505761-mural-at-city-of-london-academy-greater- for more details about the mural.

Demolition - City of London Academy Islington
The City of London Academy, a secondary school, is undergoing a major rebuilding programme which involves the demolition of the 'tower block', seen here from Rheidol Terrace. The 'long reach machine with muncher attachment' is here taking a lunchtime rest; when it is working a high pressure jet is directed towards the work area to reduce dust.
