Taken beside the footbridge over the River Irwell at Kersal Dale, I am looking south towards Pendleton and the Crescent in central Salford. The water level has receded considerably following the Boxing Day deluge brought by Storm Frank.

Kersal Dale inundated
Taken the day after Boxing Day, this is the green at Kersal Dale, Salford, inundated by the deluge brought by Storm Frank. The River Irwell lies beyond the tree line and the tower blocks at Pendleton, Salford, form an impressive skyline upriver.

Washed up by the Irwell
Taken beside the footbridge over the River Irwell at Kersal Dale, I am looking upriver towards the centre of Salford. As can be seen, the river, swollen by the Boxing Day deluge caused by Storm Frank, left behind much detritus in its wake.
