There is a zebra crossing outside. What is now a side road (left of photo) was in the 19th century a tramway carrying coal from Osmondthorpe colliery to York Road ironworks.

St Philip's Osmondthorpe - foundation stone
The stone records the construction of the church, the dedication ceremony on 1 October 1932 being held in the presence of the Bishop of Ripon and the Countess of Harewood as well as the vicar-designate (this being a new parish).
