Ty'r mynydd, Mountain Street, Rachub
Ty'r mynydd simply means 'mountain house'. This cottage, which has been renovated and enlarged in recent years, bears a plaque celebrating the Welsh artist and writer, Brenda Chamberlain (1912-1971) who lived here with her husband John Petts, the artist-craftsman. Brenda Chamberlain is perhaps best remembered for her paintings of Bardsey Island fishermen. She lived on Bardsey Image for some years. http://www.writersplaques.org/plaques/?id=135914 http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/learning/teachers/media/pages/art_portraits_people_brenda_chamberlain.shtml

Old incline and tramway formations behind Tyn-y-mynydd
These formations belonged to the Moel Faban Quarry, which was partly worked underground. For a time in the early 1900s it was worked as part of a workers' cooperative with Tan-y-bwlch Quarry Image The quarry closed before 1914.
