Newbury Park Underground Station Bus Shelter
The Newbury Park Underground Station Bus Shelter was designed by Oliver Hill in 1937, but was not erected until after the Second World War. It was finally opened in 1949. It comprises 7 concrete arches, each about 30 feet high and each spanning about 60 feet, over a total length of about 150 feet. The arches support a copper clad barrel vault roof. A plaque on the structure records that it received a 1951 Festival of Britain Award for Merit. It is a Grade II Listed Building. The road in front is the A12 Eastern Avenue.
