Looking west from Tuel Lock. The chimney belongs to the Corporation Mill. The bridge carries Tower Hill, which used to be the lower end of Tuel Lane.

This was connected to the chimney on the left by flues through the building over the old packhorse route. Now converted to apartments.

The street sign on the right marks the change to Town Hall Street. The chimney was for the Carlton Mill behind it. On the right is a 19C building with shops flanking a central doorway that led through to Sowerby Bridge Mills behind.

Winding hole, Sowerby Bridge
Other contributors have documented the resurrection of the Rochdale Canal and its reconnection in Sowerby Bridge to the rest of the network. This is the turning point for any boaters not intending to descend Tuel Lane lock.
