The Kings Head Hotel, 37-38 Saturday Market, Beverley
Both Grade II Listed, 37 was rebuilt around 1760 for the Farmer family. The Kings Head is described in the listing as mid 18th century but analysis in 1982 suggests it could be late 17th century. If so, its first appearance in trade directories of 1806 may not reflect that it was probably an inn much earlier than this. It was sold in 1811 with contents following the death of Israel Marshall listed as victualler in 1810. It was sold again in 1827 and was 'to let' in October 1841 by the owner R Clark. Later the pub was extended to encompass adjoining offices at number 37. The pub had a refurbishment around 2009 and underwent a £325k revamp in January 2015. Directory entries include; 1823 Robert Wilty; 1828 Robert Clark; 1841 David Morley; 1855 David Morley (& posting house); 1892-1893 Alfred Hoyle; 1899 Thomas Hoyle; 1913 George U Hodgson.

Former Montague Burton Store, Beverley
Built in the 1930s and situated on the corner of Saturday Market and Toll Gavel. A common feature of these menswear shops was the provision of snooker rooms on the upper floors. For another example, at Hessle, see Image Interesting to see that this one is still trading under the Burton name.
