Wellingtonia Pine, avenue 2
An avenue of Wellingtonia pines stretched from the Upper Chobham Road to Brookwood House, (now the Ridgewood Centre). This photo shows the avenue as seen from the corner of Cumberland Road and Martindale Avenue. For a view from within the avenue refer to picture Image

Venus & Mercury in the Twilight
This view of the conjunction of Venus & Mercury was taken on the 15th January 2015, 4 days after the closest approach (which was obscured by clouds). The camera was an Olympus OM1 with a 200mm lens using 1600 ASA film for a 10 second exposure. The camera site was the football dugout on the edge of the Heatherside playing field and the trees are part of the Heatheridge school grounds.

Heatherside, Wellingtonia Avenue
The Wellingtonia avenue crossing Heatherside recreation ground. The double line of trees, some 218 in all, extend for over half a mile from Heatherside House at the northern end to Yockley Drive. They were planted by a Frederick Street in 1865 on behalf of Augustus Mongreiden, the owner of Heatherside House. Mongreiden owned a large nursery of some 30 acres on Bagshot Heath.
