A grassy field corner
The trees straight ahead are part of a strip which has been added fairly recently to the northern edge of the wood to the right, just leaving a rectangle of grass at the west end.

Saint Swithun's Way - Sign with the Scallop Shell Pilgrim's Logo
The pilgrims coming from Winchester and the West of England would bring back a shell that would be picked up from Dover on their way to the Holy lands, Rome or Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain.
