Imperial Hall

Plaque marking the site of the City Road Turnpike
This turnpike was merged into the Metropolitan Turnpike Trust by act of parliament and closed by the enactment of the Metropolis Roads Amendment Act 1863 (c.78). From 1 July 1864.

Advert masquerading as graffito
At first I took this to be a carefully-drawn graffito or mural but on closer inspection it was a paper poster stuck to the wall and advertising (I think) a band. Behind Old Street tube station.
